1 YEAR ON NEWGROUNDS

I have been on Newgrounds for one year now, I wanna recap this past year but before that, I wanna speak on how I even ended up here.

October - December 2021

(Prelude)

I had always been a fan of Newgrounds since I was a kid but I had never thought of joining the site til I met Tyro1301. I found him from his One Piece animations on youtube around late 2020, we followed each other on all social media after I commented on his Soldier, Poet, King One Piece animation. Around late 2021 I had been listening to a lot of Sleepcast, craving more Newgrounds-themed podcasts I found The Newgrounds Podcast. Being only lightly acquainted with some Newgrounders like Postboy and DojimaDog it was all very new to me, I didn't even know any of the host's names. On a rainy day, while studying in class and listening to the podcast, one of the hosts mentioned how it would be cool to have a Newgrounds-styled Warioware game. I started doodling ideas for microgames themed around NG characters. I was so stoked and made a tweet about it, Tyro responded to it and was interested in the idea, little did we know others had tried before us. So Tyro and I made a plan that I would get a computer and make a Newgrounds account and in the meantime, we'd brainstorm ideas.

January- February 2022

After receiving my computer, I quickly made a Newgrounds account. most of this month was posting older pieces of art from around the lockdown, while in the background Tyro and I were making more ideas for Microgames. I was meeting a lot of new people and discovered a lot of new favorites around this time. Tyro was also teaching me Krita, he wasn't great at it but we tried. For my birthday Tyro made me this beautifully animated drawing of my character, I still love it so much!

March - April 2022

These months were big ones for me. Tyro and I decided to slow progress on our Lil project. One night after finishing Snackers is Duncan & Jones series I wanted to draw them, I only got as far as drawing Duncan before I got tired so I asked Tyro if he was down to draw Jones, he sent the final piece back and I posted it before going to bed. When I woke up that morning I was flooded with notifications from Newgrounds and Discord, It had gotten on featured art landing me my first ever Frontpage with Snackers seeing it. That wasn't the end of my morning though, Musician Droid who I had met around February gifted me a month of Supporter and invited me to a Drawpile session in The Newgrounds Podcast server, I was super nervous because I hardly knew anyone but I met a lot of cool people there most important to me being Facu. He was super chill and funny the first time we talked, we started hanging out a lot and making dumb shit together. we made two dumb characters that we still use now Gorbido and Porb. I got to sing happy birthday to Tom Fulp along with a bunch of other cool people thanks to Droid. March and April were big months for me.

May - June 2022

In early May I started talking to MigMoog, Tiny, and Dry after meeting them on The Shoot Trip Die server. Mig had invited me to work on his game for Pico Day Profile Picture Party. We all had a fun time, although it didn't win any awards. Speaking of Pico Day... I kinda won Pico Day technically, while working on Mig's game me, Tyro, Facu, and Tiny were all let on RGPAnims massive Pico Day project Fulpware, and it won!

It's funny how a project with the same premise as the game me and Tyro were gonna make won us Pico Day, funny how that works out. Speaking more on RGPAnims, the dude was super cool for letting us on the project and I'm happy to call him a friend. he's a wiz at everything he does and a hard-ass worker. He has been helping me with a project currently but we'll get to that later. A fun Lil cherry on top of all this was we ended the month off with a dumb shitpost game called Porb Dressup, Between you and me it's the greatest thing on Newgrounds but Mig seems to disagree. Great time overall!

July - August 2022

I wanna start off this section and say I lost a family member in early July, it greatly affected me but I didn't stop working on projects, I had a lot of friends and family to comfort me during this hard time but it was hard. While this time was hard I still worked on a decent amount of stuff, for starters I properly joined Mig's game-making group TeamMaxHog and we made Sh*t Rainbows Piss Thunder for Plufmot's pride month game jam. it's not great but it was a fun time. Oh yeah and this happened [click here]... so yeah. We also made a game called Into The Web Of Swine for Stepford's mobile game jam. A nice way to top off this rocky time in my life Facu and I came out with Gorbido vs Woke Mob a fun Lil sequel to our last Gorbido video.

This was the most turbulent time of my life in a good while, it wasn't fun but I still got through it. Thank you so much to all my friends on Newgrounds and not for helping me through this time.

September - December 2022

I put these last 4 months together because really didn't do much during this time for reasons I will get into later. I helped out Facu with his Halloween video haunted ghost house. I made the thumbnail for my pal Taka's game Beck Gets Bitches. Not much this time but it's cool, I needed time to relax.

January 2023

So I suppose it's time I talk about what's been keeping me busy these past few months, I am organizing a collab themed around Cartoon Network. It's gonna be a massive collab similar to ones such as The Dragonball Z Collab and The Smash Bros Collab. I have really high hopes for this project to do well, there are so many amazingly talented animators on this project that I just can't wait to show you but you'll have to wait. I want to have this behemoth of a project out by this summer, so look out for that.

Final Thoughts

This past year has been the worst and best year of my life, so much happened but it all felt so fast. I have made so many new lifelong friends who I couldn't imagine living without now. Newgrounds greatly changed the trajectory of my life, art has always been a hobby for me but now more than ever I wanna pursue a career in art in any way possible, and it's all because of Newgrounds. I want to thank all my friends I've met over this past year.

I got my first ever front page today! Thank you all so much! Newgrounds is a website that means a lot to me, and to get front-page feels almost not real. I have been using this website since I was a child and to see something I worked on be on the home page of the site even if it's only for a day makes me so happy, thank you all for helping me get to this milestone it may not mean much to some but for me, I see this as the first step to achieving my dream of creating to entertain. Thank you all so much!

Hey, guys thought I would make a new news post just being real about these past few days.

I recently got a new tablet for drawing, it has been nice but also extremely scary, I'm both happy to be bringing you all-new art but also very fearful. getting used to making art on a proper tablet as opposed to my phone is scary and hard, I have been using my phone to draw for years, and it's a big switch it really doesn't help that I'm also learning Krita at the same time. it's really fun but it also felt like learning how to draw all over again. it has me doubtful of my future as an artist. I hoped to bring you all fun cartoons and art to enjoy but it might take a Lil longer than I thought. I really just have to get back to a point where I'm confident and happy in my art again. The biggest thanks to @Tyro1301 dude has been such a great friend helping me learn some of this stuff and just being supportive it means a lot to me. Thank you my 21 followers. I have a tablet coming in soon, I will try to upload new stuff once I get it and I learn Krita. I am very hyped and can't wait to start drawing and animating. I have many ideas in my brain waiting to be made for you all, I hope you'll stay to see them through with me.

I've been having a lot of fun looking at everything this site has too offer. I have been a fan of Newgrounds ever since probably before I should have been (like idk I was probably 7 or 8) and it's been so much of a drive for me too wanna keep making art and maybe one day make a cartoon or game of my own for everyone on this site to enjoy, I hope to meet many more creatives out here on the ng space. and thank you to all my friends who pushed me too wanna keep making and having fun.
